Hi, I’m Katharina, 

I’m the artist behind Other Routes. 

To me, local heritage is a crucial building block in protecting our local environment and culture for future generations. Only if we understand the past, we can appreciate it in the present and preserve it for the future.

I hold degrees in Tourism Management (BA) and Cultural Geography (MA) with a particular focus on heritage in the context of tourism and creating identity. After moving from Germany to Ireland, I started dipping my feet into the world of big tech but quickly realised that my passion lies elsewhere.

I am now working full time as an illustrator, creating designs that are inspired by the many different cultural and natural sights Ireland has to offer.

We live in a time where it is easier than ever before to travel across the globe - yet we often don't know much about the history of our local neighbourhood. We seek new adventures in foreign places and forget that we don't have to travel to distant places to discover something new. 

I hope to ignite a new curiosity to (re)discover local places around Dublin and in Ireland.
